The packaging clearly states that this is a USB 1.1 device, so I'm not sure why Amazon doesn't have that in the details. If you want to be able to do 100mbps with USB 2.0, get the TrendNet TU2-ET100 for $5 more. Amazon's info about this product does not mention that this is a USB 1.1 device. That means that the max throughput that you can get with this device is 12mbps, not 100.
I couldn't be happier. This one worked flawlessly first time right out of the package. I have a series 2 TiVo that isn't networked to any other in the house. I don't need the constant connection of a wireless adapter, and the Linksys that TiVo recommended is junk.
If we put my street address down as 3507 Dwight Street, Penney Farms, Fl 32079, they change the address and it goes to Green Cove Springs, FL 32043. A wonderful product (TRENDnet USB to 10/100Mbps Adapter) which we are using daily. So far no one has been able to resolve this issue.Paulpwelch109@bellsouth.net They send it back as no such address.I have discussed this numerous times with the Penney Farms Post Master who has discuss this with the Post Master at Green Cove Spring. Had some problem receiving this product because we only have postal delivery to our PO Box. Only UPS delivers to our street address.Amazon had me re-submit this order with priority mail and then it was delivered to my PO Box.This is a constant problem with several of Amazon suppliers.
I have had 100% success on machines in this scenario. From there you can access the internet to download the drivers you need for the actual onboard NIC. If you work on computers you've probably run into the scenario when you reinstall the OS on a machine and find that it didn't load the proper drivers to run your ethernet connection. Simply plug in the usb and wammo, it loads the proper drivers and you've got ethernet. Chris BoydWindward NetworksBoulder, CO Well, w/o that connection it is always tough to get the downloads, forcing you to use another comptuer - push the drivers to a flash drive and then run them on the rebuild machine. Get this device and save yourself that hastle.
The adapter is good and does it's work, but won't work straight out of the box with win vista x64
